Difficulty

The Examinator automatically calculates the distractor item difficulty: it measures the relative frequency of choices in the exam. If there is only one correct answer, the distractor difficulty of this option is the same as the “item difficulty”.

Discriminatory power

The discriminative power of an answer is the Pearson correlation of the answer with the sum of scores of all other items. In the special case of one correct answer it is identical to the part-whole-corrected correlation of the item score with the total score.

Discrimination Index

The discrimination index serves as an alternative to the discriminative power. It measures the difference of the relative frequency of choices within the upper and the lower tercile of the total scores of all students.
